Drinking water status monitored over six years
Opus monitored the Angove River from 2006 to 2012 on behalf of the Western Australia Water Corporation.
The aim was to assess the ecological status of this drinking water, to fulfill the Corporation’s requirements under their abstraction licence.
The monitoring programme included annual and biannual assessment of riparian vegetation and foreshore condition, channel morphology, water quality, stream flows, fish and macro-invertebrate communities.
The findings of the environmental assessment indicate that the continued abstraction of drinking water, as per the Water Corporation’s licence conditions, has not impacted significantly on the condition of the river.
