Opus Brand Wins Graphis Award

The Opus brand was awarded a silver Graphis Award.  The awards recognise published works from some of the best talent in design, advertising, and photography and are a bastion of excellence in design and visual imagery.  Opus will be included in the resulting Graphis Design Annual.

Best Paper Award from the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia

Warren Bird, Work Group Manager - Water Resources won Best Paper at the IPWEA Conference.   Warren's paper outlines findings from his team’s international review of safety risks posed by stormwater assets and the subsequent development of a GIS-based tool for identifying and scoring risks posed to members of the public. 

Asset Management Council Conference

Dr Anna Robak's presentation was judged the best at the Asset Management Council’s AMPEAK (Asset Management Promote Educate Assist Knowledge) annual conference, held in Perth, Australia. Her presentation, called “The uncertain future: Planning for alternate realities”, focused on incorporating human behaviour into infrastructure strategies. Anna developed a simple model that could help explain why people might react in unexpected ways when they are faced with changes in service provider, service provision mechanism, or charging mechanisms.

Property Council Award

This award is directed to a team who have demonstrated excellence by developing a project that is outstanding in terms of innovation, design, sustainability, profitability, promotes growth, is inspirational and influences future development.

Opus DaytonKnight won an Award of Excellence at the 2013 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards Gala. It was honoured in the Environmental Remediation category for its work on the Harvest Energy Garden in Richmond, B.C. 

Champion Canterbury Business Awards

The Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (SCIRT) won an award at the Champion Canterbury Business Awards. The Awards recognise excellence, passion and success in the contribution businesses make to the vitality of the Canterbury region. The Champion Infrastructure Award recognises smart service providers of infrastructure or utilities in helping the community to thrive and prosper, and some of the criteria include their point of difference and people management. 

NZILA Distinction Award

April 2013

The Auckland Landscape Architecture team received a Distinction Award for their excellent work on NZTA's Onewa Interchange at the NZILA Resene Pride of Place Landscape Architecture Awards. The landscape design dealt sustainably with the challenging estuarine conditions, and enhanced the existing environment for local bird and plant life and road users. 

Project Management Team of the Year

April 2013

Opus won the Project Management Team of the Year award at the 2013 Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards. The Award recognises the Te Rapa Alliance, made up of Opus, the NZTA and Fulton Hogan, for their work on the Te Rapa section of the 120km Waikato Expressway.
